Photography captures sacred moments of life; it leaves them suspended alive for a humble second, forgotten by time. It seduces me, I am obsessed by it, I lose myself in a world of light and shadow.
I first discovered the work of various photographers when I was 16 years old whilst on a trip to Madrid. From then on, a strange sensation began to grow inside me; a strong desire to portray the reality that surrounds me and express myself through the medium of photography.
At the moment, I feel like a wise man's apprentice with a long and unrelenting path ahead. I have to evolve and I have a lot to learn. As Alberto Garcia Alix says, "...a way of seeing is a way of being"
I was born in Barcelona (Spain) in 1985.
I started to become interested in photography when I was fifteen. I studied bachillerato artistico and on finishing these studies I went on to complete a grado superior in Sound and Visuals. I then began to work with various commercial photographers and I embarked upon setting-up my own studio. During this time, my work also began to be published from time to time in newspapers such as El Pais, La Vanguardia and El Avui.
At the age of twenty three I studied a postgraduate programme in photojournalism at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (Bellaterra) and my first report was subsequently published in newspaper supplements.
Out of my "first break" grew the opportunity to collaborate with the daily newspaper "Avui". Through this collaboration I was responsible for providing photographs for the newspaper on a regular basis as well as for producing my own reports related to controversial and sensitive issues such as prostitution and the transsexual community in Barcelona, as well as sites used by drug users addicted to heroine.
Currently I am still working in collaboration with Avui, Matton Images and with the Agency 4SEE. In addition I am preparing a report about Afro-Cuban religions and an editorial project dealing with the transformation of a neighbourhood of Barcelona, possibly resulting in an exhibition in the near future.
