Now based in Madrid, Alberto Paredes was born in Barcelona in 1973. Graduated in Journalism by Universitat Autonoma, he has attended photography workshops given by Antonin Kratochvil, Ferdinando Scianna and David Alan Harvey, among others. Since 2000 he has worked as a freelance specialized in social and travel features and his pictures have been published in magazines and newspapers such as The New York Times, The Observer, Conde Nast Traveler, El País or Interviu. In 2002 he was awarded a first prize in Euro Press Photo Awards by Fuji.
For the last two years he has walked 2.500 kilometers following different routes of the Way of Saint James pilgrimage, documenting rural life in Spain.
