The Mafalala is the district of Maputo where lived Eusebio, the famous soccer player; Samora Machel, the first president of Mozambique and José Craverinha, one of the most important poet of Mozambique. In the Mafalala started the revolution again the portuguese colonization, in the Mafalala started all the cultural and artistis movement that for years characterize the Mozambique. For years the Mafalala district has been forgotten but now a NGO made of young students of the university of Maputo and named Iverca is trying to re-establish the old glory of the district. They are organized turistic tours trought the district to show to the foreign visitors the life in the district and to explain the importance of this place. The NGO organize one time per year the Mafalala Festival, a festival where local food is sold but specially where the custumers can listen jazz and blues bands playing.
