According to Alessandro, his son lives with his mother, child's grandmother, at Vale do Jequitinhonha, Bahia, Brazil, because of the constant threatening of eviction in Isidoro and the hard conditions imposed by living in an occupancy.

  • Aldemir Brito, 39, fishing with his son Adriel, 13, in one of the lagoons close to his house in Queimada dos Britos. The knowledge of living in the dunes is passed from father to son for generations. They live of fishing in the sea, which is two hours away. In the winter they breed fish on the lagoons, and cattle and goats that run free on the dunes. They have a small garden for farming but nothing major since they are afraid of the accelerating advance of the dunes that have already covered several houses. No one really knows when the village was founded but the legend says that the founder Manuel Brito, when running away from home due to a drought that was scorching his homeland, he ended up settling down in the only non-sandy portion of the Lençois.

He is only able to work between 6am to 9am and then from 7pm till 10pm, because it is when the humidity conditions are at its best to work on the straw. Cristian Ferreyra a member of  the National Movement of Indigenous Farmers (MOCASE) was assassinated on the 16th of November 2011. Soy businessman Jorge Ciccioli, accused of being the mastermind of the assassination was at the end absolved of any crime, while his keeper, Javier Juárez, who pressed the trigger was sentanced to 10 years in prison.   • Aldemir Brito goes back home through the dunes after fishing with his son Adriel in one of the lagoons close to his house in Queimada dos Britos. They live of fishing in the sea, which is two hours away. In the winter they breed fish on the lagoons, and cattle and goats that run free on the dunes. They have a small garden for farming but nothing major since they are afraid of the accelerating advance of the dunes that have already covered several houses. No one really knows when the village was founded but the legend says that the founder Manuel Brito, when running away from home due to a drought that was scorching his homeland, he ended up settling down in the only non-sandy portion of the Lençois.

  • Weekly religious works at the local church. In Angola?s Namibe desert, at Giraul, in the Namibe province, Tchikuteny, from the Mucubal tribe, is the leader of a big family, maybe the biggest family in the world.<br />
He is the chief leader, the manager and responsible for the entire village. <br />
In his village, Tchikuteny lives nowadays with most of his big family, his 33 wives, that were once 43, but 10 left the village, and most of their descendants.<br />
Tchikuteny maintains the registry of all the new-borns, totalizing 154 sons, and his grandsons, that are around 60. Nowadays, 4 new babies are on the way, and 3 great grand children were born recently.<br />
Huge harmony, love and respect transpire in the village atmosphere. The sense of a community is the pillar of their sustainability and sustenance and their autonomy depends prominently on cattle and agriculture that is made by the villagers. Nevertheless, Tchikuteny village is in close connection with their surrounding communities. Children attend Giraul School and there is proximity and relations with the extended family that lives in the surroundings.<br />
Being the spiritual leader of the community, Tchikuteny is also responsible for the weekly religious works that happens in the village church. <br />
