Silt from the surrounding fields, bathed by the salty ocean waters, carry a concentration of salt that these women filter with fresh water, boil it in a big flat pan which, after all water has evaporated, salt remains on the pan. These women produce around 5 ton of salt a year and are a main contributor to the local economy.
