• Pilgrims near Leon . Spain . The WAY OF SAINT JAMES or CAMINO DE SANTIAGO following the French Route, between Saint Jean Pied de Port and Santiago de Compostela in Galicia, SPAIN. Tradition says that the body and head of St. James, after his execution circa. 44 AD, was taken by boat from Jerusalem to Santiago de Compostela. The Cathedral built to keep the remains has long been regarded as important as Rome and Jerusalem in terms of Christian religious significance, a site worthy to be a pilgrimage destination for over a thousand years. In addition to people undertaking a religious pilgrimage, there are many travellers and hikers who nowadays walk the route for non-religious reasons: travel, sport, or simply the challenge of weeks of walking in a foreign land. In Spain there are many different paths to reach Santiago. The three main ones are the French, the Silver and the Coastal or Northern Way. The pilgrimage was named one of UNESCO's World Heritage Sites in 1993. When there is a Holy Compostellan Year (whenever July 25 falls on a Sunday; the next will be 2010) the Galician government's Xacobeo tourism campaign is unleashed once more. Last Compostellan year was 2004 and the number of pilgrims increased to almost 200.000 people.

It is said that Cleopatra always took her bath in donkey milk to keep her beauty eternal. More recent findings indicate that the donkey milk can also be consumed by children allergic to cow's milk.
Despite all this, the great utility of the donkey had always been their mobility and strength, with the mechanization of agriculture and the development of transportation, the donkey began to be used less and less. In Portugal, in the twentieth century, a very partircular kind of donkey came in the process of extinction, the race of Miranda.
Four years ago two businessmen in Portugal decided to merge these two factors and create Naturasin, a company dedicated to preserving the kind of Miranda by producing she donkey milk and selling it to the cosmetic industry.
• Nourlangie and Nanguluwur Art Sites
The name 'Nourlangie' is an anglicised version of Nawurlandja, the name of a larger area that includes an outlier to the west of Nourlangie. The upper part of Nourlangie Rock is known as Burrunggui; the lower areas are known as Anbangbang.
The area was formed when two Creation Ancestors in the form of short-eared rock wallabies travelled through from east to west. They moved past Nourlangie Rock, across Anbangbang billabong, and up into the rocks at Nawurlandja, where they cut two crevices in the rock as they passed. These crevices are visible today and rock wallabies are often seen there in the early morning and at dusk.

  • It is said that Cleopatra always took her bath in donkey milk to keep her beauty eternal. Far beyond the aesthetic benefits, the donkey milk is in the animal world the closest to the human maternal milk and was used as it´s substitute until the twentieth century. More recent findings indicate that the donkey milk can also be consumed by children allergic to cow's milk.
• Ninja has 42 years and is a drug addict for 20. Nowadays he lives in an abandoned house in Olhão that for him, resembles a paradise compared to the cells where he passed over two decades. He receives a lot of people in the house. People like him. He had many loves in his life but the only one he stays faifthful to, is to heroin.
Without any authorization he occupied about a year ago those decaying walls which once saw a house. The first division is tight, we can barely walk on it.
On a wall, a picture of Our Lady and two scarfes of the national team are the minimal decoration of that cracked wall. In another room there´s a round clock. The hours are right, but time is measured only by the next kick.
Ninja´s table is a small babylon. Syringes, broken mirrors, lighters, condoms, ashtrays overflowing with ashes, cigarette butts, plastic bottles and a knife make up the décor of that piece of furniture where its owner sits always, but always facing the door. Habits inherited by those who are not amused by the surprises of the authorities.

  • A warrior during a spiritual ritual in Phuket. Every year during the ninth lunar month of the Chinese calendar, the Phuket Vegetarian Festival kicks off. The religious festival in Phuket, Thailand, lasts for 10 days, during which sacred rituals take place in the many Chinese shrines and temples. Walking on fire and climbing ladders with bladed rungs barefoot are two of several rituals believed to bring good fortune. The main purpose of the festival, however, is spiritual cleansing and merit-making. The origins of the festival date back to 1825, when a traveling Chinese opera company came to Phuket to perform for the miners there. An epidemic broke out and as the members of the company fell sick, they adhered to a vegetarian diet to honor two of the Emperor Gods, Kiew Ong Tai The and Yok Ong Sone Teh. When they became well again shortly thereafter, the people of Phuket followed the companyÕs example - and have celebrated the festival ever since to bring good luck to their communities.

  • Celebration of the illegal referendum of Catalonia the 1th October. People have come to schools early at 5:30 am to keep the police from closing the school before voting starts. Long queues have built up at the door until the school has opened at 9:00 am. The first two hours in the morning there have been many informatic problems with the application to count the votes. People expected frustrated thinking that they could not vote. While in some schools of Barcelona and Sant Julià de Ramis there have been police charges, in Mataró people were voting under the threat of receiving a visit from the Civil Guard or the National Police and closing the schools. The Thos i Codina Institute of Mataró has organized activities in the afternoon to gather people and avoid closure. Finally, in the city of Mataró, no ballot boxes have been requisitioned and the final count has been made, with a 90.1% vote in favor of Catalonia's independence. Photo: Eva Parey/4SEE.
    Referendum 1-O_Eva Parey_038.jpg
